How to be a successful swapper

1 May 2018

Give your advert the personal touch

Your advert is the most important part of the swapping process and is where you can really sell your home to other swappers. As well as using the checklists to show features and information about your house, why not include your own personal take on what it’s like to live there? You can do this by filling out the ‘Additional information from tenant’ section and let other swappers know what a great home they could move into!

Show your home off with great photos

90% of successful swaps last year had at least one photo of their home, so if you’re serious about swapping, get snapping! It really helps other swappers to be able to know if your home would be right for them and will quickly screen out people who aren’t interested. If you need more tips about how to take and upload great photos that really show your house off, we’ve put together a list here:

Be honest!

When filling out the details of your home, be as honest as you can! It will save you and other swappers a lot of time and disappointment if your advert shows a realistic version of the home you’re offering.

Add a badge to your advert

It’s a really good idea for your own rating on HomeSwapper to respond to all your messages from other users. Even if you’re not interested in swapping with that person, a simple response to say ‘no’ to them is always advised, so that they don’t waste their time waiting for your response. You can easily keep on top of this by downloading our HomeSwapper Matches app, so you can check in on your messages while you’re on the go. Our badge system is directly linked to engagement between swappers and the greater the badge colour you have, the more serious you appear to other swappers. So, go for gold!

We have over 42,000 followers on our Facebook page, so it’s a fantastic place to share your advert and make sure even more people see the home you’re offering. On your Dashboard you’ll see a blue Facebook button: ‘Share this’. So, once you’ve perfected your advert using the steps above, simply click on this button to post your advert to our Facebook page.
